ATP? Not everyone is familiar with this term.
ATP stands for ‘Administratives und technisches Personal (Administrative and technical staff)’. UZH employees who do not teach or conduct research are part of the ATP. There are currently over 3,900 such staff members, two-thirds of whom are women.
The ATP works in one of the seven faculties or in the Central Services (ZDU). The Faculty of Medicine – which, alongside the ZDU, employs by far the largest number of ATP – also includes staff at the University Hospital of Zurich who are employed by UZH.
What is a representative body?
The ATP constitutes a ‘representative body’, the fourth alongside Students, Mid-Level Faculty, and Senior Researchers and Teaching Staff. The professorial body does not constitute a representative body.
The four representative bodies play an active role in university life. Three of the bodies do so directly as staff members in a wide variety of areas, whilst, together with the students, they also participate in consultations and elections.
The representative body organisations represent the interests of their members vis-à-vis the Executive Board of the University and the public. The representative body organisation for the ATP is called V-ATP (Association of Administrative and Technical Staff).
